Oversized is not a size. It's a cut — and it's the reason people who wear a medium in everything else suddenly aren't sure what to order.
Every piece we make is cut oversized or relaxed with a drop shoulder. That means the shoulder seam sits down your arm rather than on the bone, the body runs wide, and the whole thing drapes instead of hugging. It's deliberate. But it also means our large doesn't behave like someone else's large, and guessing is how you end up posting a parcel back.
This is the guide to getting it right first time.
The short answer
Our sizing runs true to standard men's. Take your normal size and you'll get the oversized drape the piece was designed for. If you want it closer to the body, size down one. If you're between sizes and want the baggier look, go up.
That's it for most people. If you want to be certain, keep reading — the numbers are below.
Body measurements vs garment measurements
This is where most size charts quietly lose people, including ours until recently.
A body measurement describes you. "Chest 41–43 inches" means the tape around your ribs reads somewhere in that range.
A garment measurement describes the piece, measured flat on a table. "Body length 29 inches" means the fabric itself measures 29 inches from shoulder to hem.
Mixing the two is what produces a parcel that doesn't fit. On our size guide every column is labelled, so you always know which one you're reading.
Tees, jerseys and layered tops
| Size | To fit chest (body) | Body length (garment) | Shoulder (garment) | Sleeve (garment) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 38–40" | 28" | 18.5" | 8" |
| M | 41–43" | 29" | 19.5" | 8.5" |
| L | 44–46" | 30" | 20.5" | 9" |
| XL | 47–49" | 31" | 21.5" | 9.5" |
Worth noticing: the shoulder measurement is wide for the size. That's the drop shoulder doing its job. A 19.5-inch shoulder on a medium would be oversized on a traditional tee — here it's the point.
Pieces that use this chart include the TRAVIS Pray For Me tee, the DESOTO Saint Flame tee, the ETERNAL rhinestone cross tee and the MIGUEL LA mesh jersey. Browse all tees.
Hoodies and sweatshirts
Chest, body length and shoulder follow the same grading as the table above. Our heavyweight fleece pieces — the THORN zip-up, the HUNTER New York hoodie, the STRATA Legend hoodie and the CLINT crewneck — run heavy and hold their shape, so they don't collapse the way a thin hoodie does after a few washes.
Sleeve lengths for hoodies and crewnecks are currently being measured and will be published here shortly. If you need one before then, email us and we'll measure the actual piece for you.
Shorts
| Size | To fit waist (body) | To fit hip (body) |
|---|---|---|
| S | 29–31" | 37–39" |
| M | 32–34" | 40–42" |
| L | 35–37" | 43–45" |
| XL | 38–40" | 46–48" |
Every pair we make is cut relaxed and above the knee. Exact inseams are being measured and will be added here shortly.
The most reliable way to size anything oversized
Forget your body for a second and measure a piece you already own and love the fit of.
Lay it flat, smooth it out, and measure:
- Chest — straight across, one inch below the armpit seams, then double it.
- Body length — from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
- Shoulder — seam to seam across the back.
Match those against the garment columns above and you'll land on the right size almost every time. It beats guessing from your chest measurement, because it accounts for how you like things to sit.
A note on caps
Our six-panel caps are one size with a structured fit. No measuring required.
